Just came back from east coast park. Went cycling and kite flying with PJ, emi and xinyan today. Was having a great time there and all of a sudden, a huge storm cloud was moving in quick so we had to bring the kites back in but the wind was way too strong and unpredictable and it blew our kites right in to water and there goes our delicate paper kites.. and we had to cycle to the nearest shelter to seek cover but damn it! god knows why it's built sooo darn far(but it was fun cycling in the rain..) hahah..
Had a fulfilling 10course dim sum dinner at aljunied.. hahah.. and after tt we stil had a lil space for moreee.. so we walked down to geylang for durians! wOoOOo!! i tell you the durians weree shioook! but it aint a good place to eat durians when u're the only guy in the group. 2 different durians uncles said to me.. "woah! Xiao di! Ni yi ge ren dai san ke nue ren ar! Woah! Bay pai hor!" (Woah Boy! u 1person bring 3girls! Woah! Not Bad eh!) *with tt cheekopeh evil smile*... looks as if I'm bringing 3 china girls around.. whahah...
well... on my way back in the cab it just hit upon me tt whenever you take a taxi, you have to talk to the taxi driver.. not because you are trying to be the saint who doesn't treat taxi drivers like autopilot machines.. but they have just soo much to say and soo much to share.. not only do you get the latest traffic updates, best eating spots ard town and remedies for stomach aches and flu but also you get to hear bout the hottest political issues amongst the taxi cartel. they're simply the greatest critics.
And sometimes when you're in luck, you might get to hear bout their life stories, and sometimes they will listen to yours.
But the best thing is, this taxi driver is nt over ambitious and is able to lead a simple yet happy life That is why sometimes I truly believe that everybody must become a taxi driver someday. It's like a pilgrimage. Become the wise hermit on wheels.
